Introduction
Trying somewhere new for the first time always comes with a few questions. What do I bring? Where do I go? Will I look like I don’t know what I’m doing? If you’ve been thinking about booking your first session at Sigmoid Golf – winner of the GB&I Practice Facility of the Year award – but haven’t quite pulled the trigger yet, this one’s for you.
Here’s an honest, step-by-step walk-through of what your first visit looks like, so you can arrive relaxed and make the most of your time.

Step 1: Book Online
Sessions can be booked in advance through our booking system, Momence, online at sigmoidhq.com or through the mobile app. You’ll choose your location – Sandyford or Charlemont Square – your date, and your session length.
Sessions run in 30, 60, 90 or 120-minute blocks. If it’s your first time, a 60-minute session is the sweet spot – long enough to settle in and get some quality shots in, without feeling rushed.
For events/space hire, you can contact events@sigmoidhq.com. If you are having problems at this stage, email info@sigmoidhq.com and one of our team will be able to guide you through the process.
Step 2: Arriving at Sigmoid Golf
When you arrive at our indoor golf facility, you’ll be greeted by one of our team. Both locations have a coffee bar serving 3fe Coffee and Omma Matcha, so you’re welcome to grab a drink before your session starts. Just bring yourself and your clubs, although we also have golf clubs on site if you would rather – we’ll handle everything else.
Step 3: Getting Set Up on TrackMan
A member of our team will set you up in your TrackMan golf simulator and walk you through using the interface. Don’t worry if you’ve never used a launch monitor before – it takes about five minutes to feel completely at home.
TrackMan captures data on every shot you hit: club speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, carry distance, shot shape, and more. You don’t need to engage with all of it on your first visit – but even a basic awareness of your numbers starts to make the game make more sense.
Step 4: Your Session – Play or Practice
What you do with your session time is entirely up to you. Most first-timers either:
- Play a course – choose from hundreds of world-famous layouts including St Andrews, Pebble Beach, and Adare Manor, and play as many holes as time allows.
- Practice with purpose – work on specific clubs or shot types using TrackMan’s range and practice modes, with real data guiding every hit.
If you want a more structured session, a lesson with one of our PGA professionals is a great next step – book online with one of our PGA pros, David Kearney or Ian Halpin, find out more about each of them here.
Step 5: After Your Session
Once you’re done, both locations have a relaxed social area – a good spot to review your TrackMan session data, chat with staff, or just decompress after a solid hour of golf. If you’re in Sandyford take a few minutes to sink some putts on our tour spec putting green.
If you enjoyed it and want to come back regularly, take a look at our sim packs – a more flexible and better-value way to book multiple sessions across the summer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a good golfer to visit?
Not at all. Sigmoid Golf welcomes complete beginners through to single-figure handicappers. The simulator is a non-judgmental environment – no one watching, no etiquette to worry about, no pressure.
Can I bring friends?
Absolutely. Each sim session allows four people per bay, grab your friends and play a sociable round of golf. Book a 90 or 120-minute slot for the best experience with multiple players.
Can I book a lesson for my first visit?
Yes – and it’s a great idea. A first golf lesson in Dublin with David Kearney or Ian Halpin gives you an immediate framework for your practice and makes every subsequent session more productive.
