Golf Has a Welcome Problem
There’s a version of golf that most women in Dublin have encountered at some point – one that feels like it wasn’t quite built for them. Formal club structures. A culture that assumes prior knowledge. A vague sense of arriving somewhere and not quite knowing the rules, written or otherwise.
That experience puts a lot of women off the sport entirely. Which is a shame, because once you get past that barrier, golf is one of the most rewarding, social, and genuinely skill building sports there is.
At Sigmoid Golf, the Sigmoid Girls Golf Club (SGGC) was built to remove that barrier – with distinct offerings designed for different stages of the journey. Whether you’re picking up a club for the first time or looking for somewhere to keep practising, there’s a format for you.
What SGGC Actually Looks Like
Created with the intention of becoming a fun, social club for women in Dublin who want to try something new, get moving, meet great people – and maybe even fall in love with golf! There’s no membership, no expectations, just show up.
The SGGC group lessons are the natural starting point for beginner golfers, although experienced players are absolutely welcome too, and are the most fun way to learn the game. Taught by Sigmoid Golf’s PGA Professionals, David Kearney and Ian Halpin, these lessons have a maximum of 6 players which ensures that everyone gets personalised guidance for their specific level and goals. It’s not a one-size-fits-all experience and sessions are designed so that newcomers can drop in without having attended previous weeks.
SGGC also offers Sunday Club practice sessions. This is not a lesson, there is no coaching, structured instruction or pressure to be working on anything specific. It’s a supervised weekly practice session for up to 8 girls who want a relaxed space to keep practising on the simulators. Expect 3fe coffee and OMMA matcha, good music, easy conversation and simulator time. Sunday Club is where the habit forms. Where the confidence builds. Where the game starts to feel like yours.
There’s no dress code anxiety. No awkward first shots. No feeling like you should already know what you’re doing. Just a group of women at different stages – some who have experience, some absolute beginners – working through the game together. It’s the kind of environment where asking a ‘stupid’ question doesn’t exist. Everyone’s working on something different. But most importantly everyone’s improving together.
Why Indoor Golf Changes Everything
For women looking to get into golf, the indoor simulator environment removes one of the biggest psychological barriers to the sport: the fear of embarrassment on a public course or busy driving range. In a private simulator bay, you hit the ball, see the data, get feedback, and try again. There’s no one watching. No course etiquette to navigate. No bad weather.
Every shot generates instant, objective feedback. You’re not relying on someone telling you it looked good – the numbers tell you it was good. For new golfers especially, that removes so much of the guesswork and anxiety that makes the early stages of learning frustrating.
The SGGC Events Calendar: More Than Just Golf
One of the things that makes Girls Golf at Sigmoid different from a standard golf offering is what happens beyond the simulator bay. SGGC has built a growing events programme that brings golf together with the wider wellness and fitness community – because the women who come through our doors want to be active, social, and interested in more than just one thing.
Past events have included run club collabs and the popular Sculpt & Swing with Lauren. This summer, we’re taking it further. The SGGC Summer Wellness Series is coming – a run of collaborative events with some brands you’ll love, including Yoga Dublin, Club Pilates and Trib3 Sandyford. The exact formats are still being finalised but if the previous events are anything to go by, expect genuine fun and something worth showing up for.

Join the SGGC Community
Whether you’re here for the lessons, the Sunday Club, the events, or all three – Sigmoid Girls Golf Club is a community as much as it is a golf programme. The group lessons and Sunday sessions are where it starts, but the SGGC calendar is where it grows.
